How Do Babies Learn Language?

Looking for: 6-12 month old babies (both deaf and hearing) 

Gallaudet University’s Brain and Language Laboratory (BL2) for Neuroimaging (Dr. Laura-Ann Petitto, Director) need your help to tackle groundbreaking research. Come to Gallaudet University for a short neuroimaging study involving both deaf and hearing babies. The testing takes about 15 minutes and your baby will watch fun videos while sitting in your lap. Your baby can be between 6 and 12 months old. We pay $20/hour for in-lab and travel time.

Language & Learning Study for Children

Is your child 4-7 years old?

Is your child deaf and uses ASL OR not deaf and does not know sign language?
(Children with cochlear implants welcome!)

If you answered yes, you’re invited to participate!  We will use fNIRS technology to measure brain activity and eye-tracking technology to tell us where you child is looking!  We’ll pay you $20/hour plus a free iPad storybook app!

Language Processing in Cochlear Implant Users

 

Are you interested in how the brain processes language?

We are looking for right-handed participants that have a cochlear implant and are at least 18 years of age.  You will perform simple language-related computer tasks and will be compensated $20/hour for your time!
